Several WordPress web hosts from 30 different countries are celebrating the 10th anniversary of WordPress on Monday.Of which DreamHost,acted as a sponser of a party Monday night at Zeek Interactive in Hunington Beach from 6 – 9 pm.With over 750,000 WordPress installs two full-time WordPress “gurus” on its team,DreamHost has recently become a Champion Level Multi-WordCamp sponsor of all major WordCamps in the US and Canada.
The Atlanta part of a WordPress 10th anniversary celebration is ClickHOST.Starting at 7 pm, it was held in the office of 8Bit where the theme of Standard WordPress are made.
WordPress 10th anniversary parties were held in 639 cities all over the world according to Meetup.com, gathering more than 5,000 WordPress users, developers,designers and enthusiasts
Apart from the celebration, WordPress.com’s parent company Automattic revealed that it had recieved a $50 million investment from private equity firm Tiger Global.
Toni Schneider, Automattic CEO said on his blog that Polaris Partners, True Ventures, Radar Partners, and the New York Times Company – Tiger has joined this illustrious group by purchasing shares from early Automattic investors and employees after being backed by the team.“Along with the on-going growth of WordPress (now powering over 18 percent of sites on the internet) and the amazing Automattic team (now over 170 employees), this investment is another milestone in our journey towards building a great company.”he added.
The investment of Tiger Global also goes to companies including SurveyMonkey, Eventbrite, LinkedIn and Facebook, following by Yahoo’s acquisition of blogging platform Tumblr for $1.1 billion in cash.
For the moment many web hosting providers of WordPress have to appeace the brute force attacks targeted at their WordPress customers’sites which is powered by an estimated 90,000 servers.
